1.What is TC16 (Ti-3AI-5Mo-4.5V)?

TC16 alloy is a martensitic α-β two-phase titanium alloy with a nominal composition of Ti-3AI-5Mo-4.5V, containing α-stable elements Al and isomorphic β-stable elements Mo and V. The β stability coefficient of this alloy is slightly higher, Kβ=0.8, the strength in the annealed state is medium, and the plasticity is very good, it can be used for cold heading to make rivets and bolts like β alloy. TC16 is a high-strength titanium alloy that can be heat-treated, and the temperature of vacuum solution treatment is only 800°C: 150°C lower than that of TC4 alloy. The strength of the alloy after solution aging treatment can reach more than 1030MPa, and the stress concentration sensitivity to notch, deflection, etc. is small. TC16 alloy is mainly used to manufacture fasteners, the maximum working temperature is 350 C.
